The Blood Mage, Frenic

March 21, 2012

Antagonists make stories more interesting and allow for the hero’s character growth (or heroine in our case.)  So, today we will be introducing the blood mage, Frenic — the antagonist in Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker.

Considering Cassandra’s distaste for mages, Frenic already has one count against him. Unlike Galyan who is a mage from the Circle of Magi governed by the Chantry, a blood mage operates in secret using dark rites to gain more powerful magic. Frenic and his flock of blood mages will prove to be powerful enemies for Cassandra and the Seekers. Check out some initial sketches of Frenic below!

Here’s an initial sketch of Frenic wearing a hooded cloak. What’s underneath, I wonder?

One of the options that the artist drew for Frenic involved horns. A balance between evil and creepy, the plating on his face adds an aura of cruelty to this dastardly fellow. And, if you’re curious, here’s what Frenic scars look like underneath all the plating.

Here are some full body clothing options for Frenic wearing blood mage robes, and some 3D renders of Frenic as he appears in Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker.
